Mock & Toof - Farewell To Wendo (12")

| release: 2010-03-15

Editorial review

Mock & Toof proudly present the fantastic 'Farewell To Wendo', the first single from their debut album 'Tuning Echoes' which is scheduled for release in May 2010. For those unaware, Mock & Toof are two of the UK's finest. Having built up an enviable reputation via 12' releases on James Murphy's DFA Recordings and their own Tiny Sticks imprint; they specialize in brilliantly off-kilter, disco-fuelled grooves that are laced with originality. Enough originality in fact to have caught the attention of Hot Chip, Zero 7, Holy Ghost! and Groove Armada who all recently called for their remix services, and that's just the tip of their production iceberg.'Farewell To Wendo' is a hint of the approach they have taken with their first ever long player. Groove based pop with an experiment edge might go some way summing it up. Munich based & Permanent Vacation artist Pollyester provides the unique vocals while Frankfurt's Brontosaurus collective (Arto Mwambe & Extra Produktionen) & Rush Hour's Kink & Neville Watson provide two outstanding club mixes. An added bonus of a superb instrumental ('Day Ken Died') from Mock & Toof rounds the package off.Plays & support from: James Murphy, Tim Sweeney, Erol Alkan, Ivan Smagghe, Trevor Jackson, Ewan Pearson, Mark E, Wolf & Lamb, Cosmo Vitelli, Joakim, Toby Tobias, Lexx, Roy Dank etc etc.

Editorial review

Amsterdam imprint Area Remote specialises in showcasing the latest sounds from abroad - plus welcomes the newest rising stars from Amsterdam. For our 18th release we feature producer & DJ Alex Celler. Greek by right, but (as of 2004) a Londoner by choice he’s causing a stir with his energetic and intense house sounds, full of swing, tribal rhythms & techy beats. For this release we have two loud and punchy slammers for the dancefloor, hot-off-the-press from his London studio; You’re going to love Mok da Mush with its funky groove, quirky sound snips layered across a sci-fi soundscape. While on the flip you’ll find the tribal banging Nymphoz with deep vocals and a thumping groove that will get the clubbers panting for sure.
