kidKANEVIL - Basho Basho Remixed One (EP)

Catalog#  FW47

description  / *  first word records  /   kidKANEVIL      following on from his critically acclaimed third album "Basho Basho", Kidkanevil is back with a selection of remixes from his forthcoming "Basho Basho Remixed" album. First up is a long-time friend of FW in the shape of Eliphino. He provides a stunning sub-heavy mix of "The Floating World"; fans of Floating Points, Joy Orbison & Bukem need to check this out. Next up is Manchester's Illum Sphere, fresh from the release of his "Titan" EP on Martyn's 3024 imprint (becoming only the second producer aside from 2562 to have a solo 12" on the label). His rebounce of "When Doves Bounce" does exactly that, adding spooky electronics and tougher drums to the original. The flip starts with Brainfeeder's Tokimonsta providing her take on lead single "Megajoy". With a low-slung bassline and a delicate guitar part added to the thump of the original this another fine production from one of the LA scene's rising stars. Rounding things off the idiosyncratic Blue Daisy shows why he is one of the UK's most unique talents with a seven and a half minute version of "Minjo". A mindmelting excursion that meanders it's way through floating electronics, a thudding bassline and more ideas than most manage in a full album, it's a perfect end to a release that we're very excited about. Look out for a full remix album coming later in the year, including mixes from Daedelus, Bug, Lorn, Ohm Unit and more. Also keep 'em peeled for kidk's DJ and live sets over the summer. With support slots for Glitch Mob, 9th Wonder and more coming in the next month, things are moving quickly for the producer since his stint at the prestigious Red Bull Music Academy this spring.
